San Ramon Rescape

From Shrubby Mess to Calm Serenity

A front yard full of overgrown shrub roses, cotoneaster, shabby lawn and dying perennials is lovingly refreshed.

A mangled purple plum was carefully restored. Black Adder Phormium matching in color formed the base of the grassy palette. Low water use grasses, flax and sedums in repeated patterns edged with native perennials along the sunny side balance the plant scheme. Classic Podocarpus Maki with bright Heucheras at their bases complement the entryway.

A new paved driveway, entryway and travertine tile porch were installed along with the fresh new softscape. Underneath the softscape, a supporting structure was installed to prevent runoff and was anchored with boulders. These were hand selected for their beauty and size to help hold up the hill.

Yearly maintenance is reduced to pruning, dethatching and deadheading.

No longer the neighborhood eyesore, this is a welcoming front yard with nice curb appeal.
